Monroe Staffing, a division of Staffing 360 Solutions, is currently hiring a Skilled Tool and Die Maker for a well-known Metal Stamping manufacturing company in Stratford, CT. The ideal candidate will have proven experience from a similar environment. This candidate performs highly diversified duties to construct, alter, maintain and repair a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gages, to include progressive, compound, transfer die, piercing and blanking dies for use in manufacturing operations.
Skilled - level
$35 per hour
1st Shift – 7 am - 3:30 pm, Mon-Fri
Key Responsibilities of a Skilled Tool and Die Maker
Works from sketches, drawings and general instructions.
Performs' difficult tool room operations, skillful fitting, timing and adjusting to extremely close tolerances.
Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools; devises and improvises tooling and sets up to meet specific requirements.
Fits and assembles tool and die parts and all types of dies pertinent to supporting production
Makes tool tryouts, diagnoses and remedies problems in complicated tools and dies.
Detects errors in specifications and refers to supervisor for clarifications
Grinds and sharpens tools.
Tears down production equipment and tooling, determines repairs required and makes or repairs parts to meet operating standards.
Must be able to use all types of precision measuring instruments.
Records data and information on tooling and production equipment changes.
Detects faulty conditions, defective material and reports these and any unusual observations to supervisor.
Adheres to housekeeping and safety requirements within facility.
Qualifications of a Tool and Die Maker:
Previous experience in a similar environment
Ability to use advanced shop math, charts and handbook formulas
Reading and writing ability for record keeping purposes
Work from complicated drawing, sketches and specifications
Able to provide broad knowledge of a recognized trade, craft or technical field
Adhere to Hearing protection, protective eyewear, steel toe footwear, and hand protection
Equivalent of an accredited apprenticeship program
