Sanitation Supervisor

The Sanitation Supervisor directly oversees the Sanitation activities and coordinates with Quality Assurance Department to address quality issues and troubleshoot problems.  The Sanitation Supervisor reports directly to the QA Manager.

Reviews and signs all sanitation related documentation to confirm accuracy and to assure that sanitation activities were performed per standard procedure.

Performs a post-sanitation pre-operational inspection of all equipment to assure that established procedures have adequately cleaned each component per the guidelines

Interacts directly with Quality Assurance and the Plant Manager to resolve all sanitation issues that may impact Food Safety and Quality.  May request immediate assistance from the Maintenance Department regarding equipment failure and may request upgrades and changes to procedure via the QA Department and/or Operations Manager.

Oversees the Sanitation Preventative Maintenance Program.  Schedules personnel to perform duties according to the requirements of these programs.

Has received documented training in proper sanitation procedures and proper chemical use and provides training to each person within the Sanitation Department as appropriate per the job or jobs each will perform.

The cleaning and sanitation training protocol will comply with the guidelines set forth in SQF 8.1 'Cleaning and Sanitation Program'. Proposes changes to Sanitation Standard Operating procedures and may have modifications approved by an SQF Expert.

He is part of the HACCP Team where the Sanitation department has adequate representation in creating revisions to the program and communicate modifications to members of the sanitation staff.

  • Adhere to company GMP’s Food Safety, Safety and SQF policies and procedures.
  • Trained on Food Defense requirements
  • Notifies appropriate management of any food safety, quality or safety issues immediately
  • Participate in all training as applicable to the job position per 2.9.2.1 and 2.9.7.1
  • Guides by SQF Ref 2.1.2.8 Management Responsibility
