Payroll Clerk

Primary responsibilities of the payroll clerk are keeping, tabulating and processing internal and external employees' work hours on a timely basis. Verifying time sheets or time cards to make sure they are accurate and complete. Enters payroll data into the payroll record-keeping system.

Essential Functions - Payroll Clerk

  • Updates payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
  • Updates payroll records by entering changes in, insurance coverage, savings, and deductions
  • Responds to questions and requests for payroll information
  • Supports payroll operations by following policies and procedures; suggests improvements to existing processes
  • Maintains employee confidentiality
  • Contributes to team success
  • Garnishes wages due to child support, IRS, and other requests
  • Ensures timecards have proper signatures and approvals upon submission
  • Utilizes payroll software to process weekly transactions
  • Adheres to Corporate Standards for record retention and audit

Qualifications - Payroll Clerk

  • 1-4 years of payroll processing related experience
  • High School degree required
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion
  • Good General math skills
  • MS Office, especially Excel and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong personal time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

Physical requirements

This position requires phone work, computer usage and constant interaction with Recruitment, Sales, Payroll, Finance, Management and other Staff. Must be able to remain sitting or standing for long periods of time. Ability to frequently reach, push, bend, twist and squat when filing and using office equipment. Ability to frequently see, hear and understand instructions. Occasionally moves or transports boxes weighing up to 25lbs with supply deliveries.
